WhatsApp has made the information available on its FAQ page, detailing which versions would no longer support WhatsApp after this date.
WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app, with billions of daily active users from all over the globe. Although the messaging app is compatible with the vast majority of smartphones on the market today, the platform sometimes becomes inoperable owing to software versions that have been old or obsolete to the firms.
And WhatsApp has said that from March 31, any phone running any Android, iOS, or KaiOS version would be unable to use the messaging program.
WhatsApp has released the information on its FAQ page, indicating which versions would no longer support WhatsApp after this date.
WhatsApp will no longer operate on the following phones as of March 31:
Android Phones: If your phone does not have Android 4.1 or above, WhatsApp will cease operating. To authenticate your account, you’ll need a phone number or an SMS number.
Users of iPhones running iOS 10 or later will be able to use WhatsApp on their smartphones. Apple is already marketing iOS 15, which is compatible with three to four-year-old iPhones. WhatsApp warns users not to use jailbroken iPhones.
KaiOS: If your smartphone is powered by the KaiOS platform, WhatsApp needs KaiOS version 2.5 or later. Devices supported include the JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
Among the brands included on Meta’s official list are Xiaomi, Samsung, LG, and Motorola. The following phones no longer support WhatsApp.
WhatsApp releases these updates on a regular basis to keep its app up to date with the newest technologies. WhatsApp also removes from the list obsolete Android or iOS versions that are no longer supported.
WhatsApp continues to provide new features to consumers who use the most current Android and iOS versions. It often tests new features in the beta version, which is only accessible to a select set of users.
